Updated this week

WorkBoard now supports deeper integration between Azure DevOps and Key Results, so you can connect real work items directly to the outcomes you’re driving. Use it to:

  • Show what work is driving a Key Result

  • Reduce manual status updates

  • Keep stakeholders aligned on delivery

  • Improve visibility into progress and risk

  • Pull key work item details into WorkBoard (owner, hours, status, etc.)

This integration lets you connect work items by either:

  • selecting specific work items, or

  • using an Azure DevOps saved queries

Before You Start: Enable the Azure DevOps Integration

To connect Azure DevOps work items, you first need to enable the Azure DevOps (New) integration in your WorkBoard account settings.

  1. Go to your WorkBoard integration settings page

  2. Find Azure DevOps (New) under Data Connectors

  3. Click Enable

Connect a Key Result to Azure DevOps

  1. Open the Key Result you want to connect work to

  2. Click Add Relationship

  3. Select Azure DevOps

  4. Authenticate using OAuth (new option)

  5. Choose how you want to pull in work items:

    • Saved query (recommended for ongoing work tracking), or

    • Select work items (search and connect individual items)

  6. (Optional) Select additional work item fields to import (ex: owner, hours, status)

  7. Click Save

Your Azure DevOps items will now appear as related bodies of work under that Key Result.

Notes & Known Limitations

  • Connected ADO items will not show up as linked connections in the Azure DevOps plugin at this time

  • You may see the option to connect Azure DevOps items directly to Objectives as related items as well — this won’t work yet.

  • Azure DevOps items are not yet showing on the Strategy Relationship Map tree and Scorecards as related items; threading this experience through theses channels is currently under development.
