Overview
If you wrote a complicated Key Result and later realize it should fall under another Objective, you can either copy it to keep it in both locations or move it so it exists only in the new Objective.
You can choose to copy the Key Result, which keeps it in both the original location and the new Objective, or move it, which transfers it exclusively to the new Objective without duplication.
Time Periods
Both the source and destination Objectives must belong to the same time period to copy or move a Key Result.
Permissions
You must have edit access to both Objectives to copy or move a Key Result. This typically means you need to be a manager or admin for both teams.
This information has been consolidated into the updated permissions and time period requirements in blocks 4 and 6.
Copy or Move Key Results to Another Objective
Locate the Key Result (KR): Hover over the KR you want to move.
Open the Options Menu: Click on the kebab menu (three dots) next to the KR.
Select “Copy Key Result”: From the dropdown menu, choose the “Copy key result” option.
Choose the Destination Objective: Search for and select the Objective where you want to move the KR.
Configure Move Options:
Check the box for “Only move result to new objective” to ensure the KR is moved rather than copied.
Optionally, select the option to carry over updates and comments if you want to retain the KR’s history.
Complete the Move: Click “Copy” to finalize the process.
Carrying Over Updates and Comments
When moving a KR, you can choose to transfer its previous updates and comments to the new Objective. To do this, ensure you select the option to carry over updates and comments during the move process. This ensures that all historical context is preserved in the new Objective.
